Ryan Blackburn was born in Cumbria and has Cumbrian heritage running through his veins. As the third generation in his family to work in hospitality, he is passionate about the cuisine and produce of his local area. Before starting his own restaurant with his brother, Craig, Ryan worked in Restaurant Martin Wishart and was Head Chef at Cottage in the Wood in Whinlatter Forest, both well-respected restaurants in the UK. A highlight of his career was receiving a gleaming review from esteemed food critic, Jay Rayner. Since opening The Old Stamp House in 2014, Ryan’s focus has been on producing traditional Cumbrian dishes that are influenced by flavours from around the world and made using locally reared and grown produce.
