Mike VrijdagOwner and chef Mike Vrijdag's passion for cooking started when he decided to follow a bakery course and a chef's training. Next, he joined several restaurants, like Hotel Frerikshof in Winterswijk and Het Koetshuis in Bennekom. He quickly rises from apprentice to chef de partie at Princess Juliana in Valkenburg, his first employer with two Michelin stars. In 2011 chef Mike Vrijdag opened the doors of restaurant Strandlodge, which was awarded a Michelin star in 2015. In 2020 Mike transforms the Strandlodge into his current restaurant: LEV. by Mike.

The restaurant offers an outdoor “beach bar” with a lounge area and a spacious roof terrace with a stunning view of the surrounding nature area. As a result, it is the perfect location for a delicious lunch, a nice dinner, or just a pleasant evening out.
LEV. by Mike’s cuisine
The cuisine at restaurant LEV. by Mike can best be described as a mixture of international cuisine with regional Dutch products. In this kitchen, the complex art of combining various flavours with the most beautiful products is executed perfectly. The culinary team, who is tightly organized, is free to develop themselves. This results in beautiful and daring dishes, often combining seasonal products with local seafood. Each dish can be paired with an excellent glass of wine, or a refreshing non-alcoholic drink.
Ambiance
Restaurant LEV. by Mike is situated in Winterswijk, a town in the Achterhoek, which lies in the easternmost part of the province of Gelderland. Inside, the restaurant has a spacious modern ambiance that almost feels futuristic. Outside, on the roof terrace, you are surrounded by lush nature. You can even take a dip into the water at the lake, or simply relax and bask in the sun. The area has many options for outdoors activities: various hiking and cycling trails can be found near the restaurant.
