A Michelin-starred chef with a passion for regional cuisine
Chef Daniel Schmidthaler developed his cooking skills in Upper Austria, where he was born. Wanting to gain experience abroad as well, Daniel traveled across Europe. He worked on the island of Mallorca at restaurant Tristan and restaurant Formula 1. Next, he went to Germany and joined the kitchen team at Quadriga (Berlin) and after that the Kutscherhaus (Templin). Here, he met his wife Nicole, who ran the restaurant at the time. Deciding to move to Fürstenhagen together, they opened their own hotel and restaurant: Alte Schule Fürstenhagen. It quickly became a success and it didn’t take long until Daniel’s exquisite regional cuisine was awarded a Michelin star.
